Possible Future Book Club Selections

Like I mentioned in our first post, we have very divergent tastes in books. We are going to have to do a lot of negotiating to find ones that will be mutually enjoyable or take turns picking books one of us may like more than the other.

Some ideas so far...

The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
Black Boy by Richard Wright
The Almost Moon by Alice Sebold
Room by Emma Donoghue
The Good Daughters by Joyce Maynard
The Story of Beautiful Girl by Rachel Simon
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Feel free to leave other ideas in the comments!

  1. Another REALLY good book is "We need to talk about Kevin" by Lionel Shriver - I think I read it's going to be made into a movie, to0 --

  2. I'm in a book club with friends, but only a couple of us actually finish the books :(. We read a different genre each month to break each person out of their typical book choices.

Here are some that we read:

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon

Wolfbreed and Wolf's Cross by S. A. Swann (2 books)

The Help by Kathryn Stockett (gonna be a movie -- didn't know that when I picked it up)

Life of Pi by Yann Martel

Another idea might be: See if there are any books about Indiana, that take place in Indiana or are written by a local author. We've read a few Iowa books since that's where we are -- Girls from Ames (about growing up in Iowa) and then we read Weight of Silence by Heather Gudenkauf, who is a local author.

    Anyway, YAY books!
