Survivor Chat - Backstabbers

Last Wednesday on Survivor several things went down. First at the reward challenge, opposing players had to stand on a wobbly balance beam and try to knock each other off. These challenges are usually fairly lame and this one did not disappoint (or it actually did disappoint because that's lame). I think it would have been more entertaining if someone tried to blow in someone's ear (Lance Stephenson anyone??). Anywhoodles...after winning, Jeremy and Natalie decided to give up their reward to Jon & Jaclyn.

My first thoughts? Why?? You never do that! It never pays off!

And how long did it take to find that out? A whole two seconds because then Jeremy was sent to Exile. Burn.

While Jeremy is at Exile, bonehead Jon realizes that Jeremy is going to figure out that he has the idol that was hiding on Exile. Sheesh. These players this season lack some serious brains.

At the immunity challenge the players have to build a set of blocks with their feet. Not too boring of a challenge but not that interesting. Baylor wins. Gag.

Back at camp Jeremy semi questions Jon about the idol but doesn't really press it when he denies finding it. Then Jon goes all crazy against Jeremy and convinces Missy to vote him out.

All sorts of votes are cast but Jeremy goes home. Natalie whisper freaks out on Missy. I can't wait for next week...because I am hoping that the singletons start axing Jon & Jaclyn and Missy & Baylor! I am now (strangely enough) pulling for Natalie!

Survivor Chat - Taco Farts

This week's episode started off pretty good with a really good reward challenge! I have slow moving, boring challenges (see the immunity challenge comment in a few minutes). But hard, physical challenges that take endurance are my favorite! I also love puzzles which most challenges seem to have these days too. I found that I really liked how to the two tribes were split up for this reward challenge and was kind of glad that Missy got left out because I am not a fan of hers. As soon as the challenge started, it was kind of evident that the blue group was going to win; they had much more muscle and way better communication & teamwork!

Once they won, they had a huge food reward! Keith warned Wes not too eat too much but he didn't listen and....taco farts, puke, and who wants to know what else! Well, apparently Missy and Baylor didn't want to know what else once they got back to camp and the food digested! I am a little indifferent about the whole farting and spitting going on but whatever...if you have a problem, speak your mind!

At (stupid) Exile island...Jon found the most poorly hidden immunity idol. Boo. I swear...every season the "hidden" idols get easier to find!

Later the immunity challenge was a memory game...not a fan! Boring! They also don't usually last that long but I was happy that Jeremy won! I always love it when the one person everyone wants to vote out, wins! Makes for much better scrambling!

In the end Josh got voted out...I wasn't too big of a fan of his...but it might be because he got a ton of airtime. Also he aligned with Baylor early on and I have never really liked her. I do like Reed so I'm interested in what he'll do next week...especially after seeing the preview! Maybe this season will get a little spice in it finally!

Survivor Chat

Lindsay and I are both big Survivor fans (along with our mother) and we used to discuss the previous episode at the gym Thursday morning...and since I miss that (and don't have anyone else to recap with in person) I thought I'd start a Survivor Chat after each new episode! If you have thoughts, feel free to share them in the comments!

This season of Survivor is definitely one of my least favorites since I started watching a few years ago. The cast is boring and I don't really like the whole Blood vs. Water theme. I also thought that Exile Island was pointless. But even though I'm not super excited about this season I still enjoy the show. Last Wednesday brought the final merge and individual immunity! Hopefully the strategic play will get a little better and the couples will start to break apart because I think they're kind of boring.

So far I am pulling for Reed and Jeremy...I have kind of started to like hillbilly Keith but I'm not sure why! The rest of the cast...meh. I don't really dislike anyone too much but they are all just so blah and haven't done much. I also watch Amazing Race so the fact that the twins were on this season was so annoying but since they have been apart, they weren't too bad. Hopefully some strategic play will come in now that they are all working individually.

Who are you cheering (or just picking) to win?

Minute to Win-It Family Christmas

Our family LOVES playing games! Last Christmas we decided to make it extreme and super fun! We had a Minute to Win-It night! Most of the games were modified from suggestions online or just made up but they were so fun!

First to shake all the ping pong balls out of the kleenex box was the winner! This game was super fun but you really had to shake your butt so hard!

All the cards were face down except the Kings...you had to blow them all off the tray before the last king card fell!

This is definitely an embarrassing one...except Clint was really good at it!

Another one Clint was really good at; but definitely had the edge having played football in HS.

You can really tell that we made up our own games because as the night went on, some of the games started to get really ridiculous! But also hysterically funny/fun!

I wonder who played beer pong in college?

Dale was the master at this game! We even nicknamed him "Hummingbird"!

Christmas will be here before we know it and I can't wait to get the games going again!!

Three Little Birds

Sister Tattoo!

I get the most questions about this tattoo and it has the best story of all of my tattoos so I figured why not lead off my inaugural, grand re-opening post with a little FAQ about our tattoo.

Who: Lindsay, Leslie and Hilary, duh.

What: Three little birds. One going an opposite way and two going the same way.

When: 5-2-2009 (I actually had to look that up in the embedded pic info because I had no idea). I usually say "Right after Hilary's graduation party for her graduation from St. Joe."

Where: Well, it's on our inner left wrist. But we also got them done at Artistic Skin Designs shop on the Westside of Indianapolis.

Why: The why varies depending on who I'm telling and why they want to know.

Simple answer is that we wanted to get tattoos because we love each other and feel a strong bond of sisterhood and this is a constant reminder of this.

Longer/extended answer is that we had been talking about getting matching tattoos for a while. I was the only one with tattoos but both my sisters had been interested in getting them. I would consider Leslie the most "picky" of us when it comes to plans, endeavors, etc. in life, so we told Leslie to figure out where and what she wanted and Hilary and I would weigh in because we didn't care as much what the final design was, as long as it wasn't hideous. We emailed ideas and pictures back and forth for a while before we finally found this bird design. Funny enough it came from a funeral home website logo! When we had the tattoo artist draw it up he suggested flipping one of the birds to go a different direction -- that sounded fun and random and would differentiate us from a funeral home so we said yes. Leslie chose the inside of the left wrist which frankly shocked me. I figured she would want it some place a little more hidden since she is an elementary school teacher. But she said nope and that she usually wears a watch that sort of covers it. You'd also be surprised by the amount of people who don't look at the inside of your wrist. Weird, but true.

Fancy version of the answer is stuff I've made up over the years which is mostly based in truth but we never really talked about it explicitly when we were deciding what to get but mostly rings true for me at least. One of our collective favorite songs is Three Little Birds by Bob Marley. It's a nice tune and has some powerful lyrics and overall messages. The key one being "Don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is gonna be alright." All three of us endeavor to NOT worry about things (it works and doesn't work to a great degree based on us individually, situationally and contextually). Basically a "Hakuna Matata" theory of life. I also say we chose doves because they are symbols of peace and we're all basically pacifists; maybe more so me than Leslie or Hilary, but generally speaking none of us really care for violence as a means. Lastly, I sometimes say that we got it right after Hilary graduated from college and that three birds flying away is symbolism for the fact that we are all now adults who have "flown the coop" of our dad's house.

The other funny question I get is "Why is one flying the wrong way?" or "Who is the one flying the wrong way?" Sometimes I say it's Leslie because she's the airhead of the group. Sometimes I say it's Hilary because she's the clueless one who has more book smarts than street smarts. Or sometimes I say it's me because I'm the weirdest and I march/fly to the beat of my own drum. Sometimes I say for no particular reason. Just depends on how funny I'm feeling :)

So there you go! Transcribed history of our (first) sister tattoo!

Grand Re-Publishing!

Lindsay and I started this blog as a book talk blog a couple years ago and I was pretty much a big lame sister because I couldn't keep up with posting...or reading. I LOVE reading but since having little P-Man I haven't had as much time to read. So I decided to re-vamp our blog and make it a blog for my two sisters and I to talk! We love in three different cities so this is just a fun way for us to talk...as if we don't already talk enough as it is!

So stay tuned for some fun conversations!
